We hold classes at different studios! Studio information will be listed on the class registration information and will be included in your email confirmation after registering for class.
Wednesday Classes and Saturday Workshops are currently held
in Capitol Hill at Dance Underground (340 15th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112)

If you are parking: Free residential street parking and paid parking lots are available in the neighborhood. Free parking can often be found along E John Street near Safeway, if not closer within the surrounding residential streets. We recommend allowing an extra 5–10 minutes to find parking and walk to the studio.​

All classes can be purchased online through our website, and this ensures there is capacity for the class you selected.

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS

All sales are final and non-refundable. If you can no longer attend, we encourage you to gift or resell your spot to another student. Our Instagram Community Group is available to help students connect for these exchanges. Any payment or exchange between students happens independently of Afro Dance Seattle staff.

Transferring your spot to someone else? To confirm the transfer, you can either email afrodanceseattle@gmail.com or tell us in person. Just make sure to check in with the teacher or support staff to let us know whose registration you are taking over.

For emergency situations only: Need to move your registration to another date? You may email afrodanceseattle@gmail.com to request a date transfer to a class of the same value within 30 days of your original class date. This option should be used only for emergencies, and we still prefer that you transfer your spot to another student whenever possible.

ADS has a very small administrative team, so we ask that date-transfer requests be used sparingly. Thank you for helping us keep this process manageable!

Yes - we currently offer drop in classes on Wednesdays and monthly workshops on selected Saturdays.

We recommend beginners to Level 1/2 or Open Level classes. Also Foundations classes are always beginner accessible.

The Wednesday night choreography classes tend to vary in level from piece to piece - however most choreographies are taught over two weeks which can make them more accessible.

Look out for the next “Beginner Series” which is a program designed specifically for Beginners looking to start their journey with African styles.

Yes! We recommend Open Level, or “Level 2+” and above. Class levels are clearly marked on our registration page. For more information on all our class levels, click here.

Yes, we offer partial scholarship to: 1) dance artists/educators, 2) students who identify as POC, especially from African or Afro-diasporic heritage, and 3) to university and high school students. If you are interested, click here. If this discount doesn't work for your situation, let us know by filling out this form, and we will work something out! We don't want finances to be a barrier if you want to be in class. We got you.

ADS classes are geared towards adults, but children are welcome to attend class as long as their parent is comfortable. In the event a parent wants to bring their child, and the child will not take class, there is plenty of seating available in the studio. We kindly ask that any observers, children or adults, do not disrupt class. 

Our classes operate in an open video environment, so you’re welcome to record videos for personal use. Occasionally, an ADS staff member or professional videographer may also be filming.

If recording your own videos, please:

• Be mindful of others around you.

• Ask for consent before posting if your video includes other participants.

• Avoid disrupting the class to film.
