PNW Afro Dance Camp
Friday 8/22 - Sunday 8/24

Here is a snapshot of camp details:

  • Both locations require doors to remain locked at all times. Camp staff will need to tap you in, please arrive at least 15 minutes before opening sessions/class to allow time for check in. Everyone’s first stop will be 9th Ave Gallery to check in and receive your wristband. (Map below)

    • ALL attendees must check in at 9th Ave Gallery regardless of which pass you hold.

    • No water fountain onsite

    Cornish Main Campus Center (MCC)

    • 1000 Lenora St, Seattle, WA 98121

    • All leveled break out classes will take place at MCC

  • We highly recommend allocating 15 minutes to arrive and find parking. Options include paid street parking or paid lots.

    • Nearest link (LightRail) station: Westlake (10 minute walk to venue)

    • Amazon garages nearby are free/lower cost (look for re:Invent, Doppler, Nitro parking garages)

    • Street parking is free on Sundays!

  • All attendees must register for classes ahead time to guarantee a spot in a specific class. Scroll down this page to find Class Registration.

    This year’s camp theme “Train to Transform” is all about growth—in your technique, artistry, and confidence. Dive into classes that expand your:

    We invite you to choose sessions that challenge and inspire you.

  • Take a minute to read through the level descriptions below. The right level class ensures you’re challenged and creates the best environment for real growth. Feel free to jump between levels if you wish!

    Level 1️⃣ : Beginner

    • You are a beginner in this particular style

    • Or, you want introductory information, technique and foundation

    • Or, you do not have a lot or any formal dance experience

    Level 2️⃣: Advanced Beginner/Open Level

    • You are somewhat familiar with this dance style & with dance in general

    • You've trained in this style, but still working on developing a foundation

    • Or, you have other dance background and want a faster paced class than Lvl 1

    Level 3️⃣: Intermediate/Advanced

    • You've trained in this style and regularly take intermediate level classes within this genre

    • Or, you are a professional Afro dancer, or pre-professional

  • Lunches are back and brought to you by crowd-favorites Oppa Chanh. We have VERY limited available, pre-order your lunch for pickup onsite at MCC for Saturday and Sunday. Pre-order is available on this page, below in the Ticketing section.

    • Water bottle (water fountains available at MCC, no water fountain at 9th Ave)

    • Yoga mat (we’ll have mats available on site, if you’re able to bring your own please do to ensure we have enough for everyone)

    • Towel

    • Change of clothes

    • Extra snacks, electrolytes

    • Friday’s Outfit Theme: Black and Denim with your favorite accessories (hat, glasses, scarf - however you want to add a pop to your fit)

  • We invite you all to celebrate with us Saturday night! All full weekend pass holders have free entry to the after party. Don’t lose your wristband-that’s your entry ticket!

    • Honor labor with fair pay

    • Increased camp from 2 to 2.5 days, responding to participant feedback

    • Increased lineup from 7 to 9 instructors, and with 4 from overseas (versus 2 last time)

    • Actively seek grants to reduce future costs

  • All sales are final and non-refundable. However, you may transfer your camp ticket(s) to another person. The original purchaser is fully responsible for this transfer, and Afro Dance Seattle is not involved in any private resale transactions. How to Transfer a Ticket: The original purchaser must provide the new ticket holder with: Order ID First & Last Name (as used in the original booking) The new attendee will use the original ticket details for registration. Note: The terms of this policy are non-negotiable.
